There are 5 Components of the "Friends" Program:

TRAINING
“Friends” CAP offers training programs in the following areas to build self-confidence, assertiveness, self-esteem, drug awareness and problem-solving techniques:
  • Conflict Skills Resolution Training
  • Assertiveness Training
  • Social Resistance Skills Training
  • Drug Awareness Training
  • Communications Skills Training
  • Anger Management Training
  • Basic Life Skills Training

MENTORING
One-to-one mentoring promotes community involvement, allowing us to tap a “treasure chest” of experience, knowledge and expertise. It has proven to be one of the most successful ways of rallying volunteers to help young people by providing the individual attention they so desperately need to fill voids in their lives.

Vocational training and job placement are also essential to help young people become productive, self-sufficient members of society.

RECREATIONAL ACTIVITIES - Drug & Gang Free
Having fun is an important part of the teenage years. Our goal is to provide social and recreational activities and a circle of friends that are drug and gang free. Here are some of the opportunities we offer participants in our program.
  • St. Louis Cardinals baseball games
  • Electronic video games
  • Premiere movies
  • Wilderness adventure trips
  • Basketball and baseball camps
  • Summer camp

JOB TRAINING/JOB PLACEMENT
“Friends” offers collaborative training opportunities in various fields such as Plumbing, Carpeting, Construction and Computers.
  • Skills Training from local craftsman and computer experts
  • Collaboration with local Temporary Employment Placement Agencies
  • Provide job opportunities to program youth with local Corporations and Job Placement Agencies
